Why did Hugenay change the spelling of his name?

This question is totally unanswerable. For some reason, when the international art thief appears in "Stuttering Parrot," he spells his name as Huganay, yet when he appears in "Screaming Clock," his name is spelled as Hugenay. Possibly there was a misspelling in the first book that they were correcting in the second book; or the editor may have not caught the different spelling in the second book. I have not compared the newly printed editions from Random House to see if this difference in spellings is still there.
